Mississippi Rag

This piece is regarded as the first published rag. It was published in 1897 when William H. Krell won a ragtime composition contest in Chicago. Though it has "Rag" in it's name the piece is not guite such a rag as later years. The piece is based on brass band arr. that Mr. Krell's band played already before the piano version. It can be regarded as a Cakewalk and has a form of a patrol march: it ends as it starts.
The original arrangement is by Jean-Marc Versini which I have adapted for myself. The music example is not excact with the music sheet as I later added some bars to one section.
